i bet they tried it with magic once, like quinn got jesse's arm to smack him in the face, and then they both went THAT WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA and resorted to nomaj smackings only.

They had to go to Mufferaw because Quinn couldn't figure out how to reverse the jinx. But Jesse isn't a snitch, so he claimed he was trying to cast the jinx and it backfired

And now he holds it over her head constantly

- they either send the butt card back and forth as a constant apology or they always send each other different butt-related apology cards
- jesse has prob been to hamilton plenty over breaks because what are 'other friends???'. gord always calls him by a different name, and is only 80% kidding when he does so. he's probably been doing it for so long that he's forgotten jesse's real name.

- yeah, I think they've probably been to each other's houses a bunch. Buffalo and Hamilton are pretty close. They could have visited even before they could apparate. 15 year old Jesse absolutely would have driven an hour and a half with a learners permit to bother Quinn.

I like this Gord theory. I needed a reason to explain why Jesse is so weird about him. I don't blame you, Gord. Jesse isn't the kind of guy I'd want hanging around my daughter, either.

Jesse's parents aren't around a lot, but his sisters would like Quinn. Probably more than they like Jesse, actually.

- yes. and she loved it. she probably also took the bus down to fort erie and they hung out there, too. or the bus all the way down to buffalo. i kind of imagine her family as having an old, barely-used car so she never got her license.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE CUNNINGHAM FAMILY DYNAMICS AND MAYBE THAT WILL HELP? i don't have it all worked out but i do know:
- gord is where she gets her clowning tendencies. he takes little seriously. he knits weird-ass shit. one of his joys in life is to embarrass his daughter and wife, the other is to keep up on trashy reality (ex. the bachelorette) and celebrity news. sends these to quinn via owls. also makes a lot of 'man's place/woman's place' jokes but is very aware that he works in a woman-dominated industry, so they're done tongue in cheek. his 'man's place' jokes probably all equate to 'jordan, let's go into the kitchen where we belong and talk like men.' i think he likes jesse and also gives him all sorts of shit. narrows eyes a lot if jesse makes any of his Classic Jesse Is-he-actually-in-love-with-her jokes.
- flo is the straight man. she's less fleshed out in my mind, but she has a much more dry sense of humour and is where the nose-to-the-grindstone comes from. she takes everything her husband and daughter do in stride - after all, she's been with gord since they were like, 12. weirdly enough she thinks jesse is a good influence, probably for the academics and the grants and stuff. she is definitely a scary hockey mom.

quinn does not blame jesse's sisters for liking her more. she'll try to convince them that he's cooler than he seems (only when he's not around), but they're older so they can probably see through this.
